Security: It is the science and study of methods of protecting data
from unauthorized person. Ex. Protect digital data from computer system/cell
phone etc...
Network
Security: Measure to protect data during their transmission.
Internet
Security: Measure to protect data during their transmission over an
interconnected network.
Cryptography:
Cryptography is associated with the process of converting plain text into
unreadable text and vice-versa.
Plain
Text: Original message is
called Plain text. Ex. I am an Indian
Cipher
Text: Plain text convert into unreadable format is called cipher
text. Ex. I am an Indian ⇒ a**0##<8up@
Encryption: Process
of converting plain text to cipher text.
Decryption: Process
of converting cipher text to plain text. (May be or may not be reverse of
encryption)
Cryptographic
Key (Key): A cryptographic key is a string of bits (secret
information) used by a cryptographic algorithm to transform plain
text into cipher text or vice versa.
Cryptanalysis: The
method of transforming cipher text back into plain text without knowledge of
the key. (Code – breaking).
Cryptology:
Cryptology means cryptography and cryptanalysis.
